Welcome Oklee! (Cervical Disc Injury)

Oklee is a 6-year-old Labrador Retriever who sustained a cervical disc injury. In early June, Oklee jumped off the bed and suddenly lost control of his hind legs. Within hours, he couldn’t move his front limbs either. His owners rushed him to the ER, where he was diagnosed with a cervical spine injury.

Oklee started therapy on June 19th. We began with cold laser therapy, dry needling, massage, and spinal and extremity joint mobilizations. Additionally, we used proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques to stimulate his nervous system. Our goal was to get Oklee walking again and improve his overall function.

After several treatments, Oklee began using his back legs again. He is now able to bear weight on his front left leg as well. While his right arm is improving, it is progressing a bit more slowly. However, each day brings improvements, and his recovery is steadily advancing.

His owners are thrilled with the progress he’s made so far. They are excited to see him regain mobility and function. As for me, I am equally pleased with how quickly Oklee has responded to therapy. His determination and resilience are inspiring.

Oklee’s journey is far from over, but we are optimistic about his full recovery from his cervical disc injury. With continued therapy, we’re confident he will regain even more strength and mobility. Go Oklee! Keep up the great work, and keep pushing forward! You’re doing amazing!
