Bentley is an eight-year-old basset hound undergoing post-radiation rehabilitation. He started therapy because he struggled with walking and standing after his radiation treatments. When he first arrived for evaluation, we quickly noticed several issues. There was significant swelling in his left knee joint, along with noticeable atrophy in his left quadriceps and glute muscles. Additionally, he had severe muscle spasms in his low back and right leg, likely caused by overuse as he tried to compensate for his other leg.
We started Bentley on a therapy plan focused on addressing these issues associated with post-radiation rehabilitation. The combined soft tissue work, stretching, and strengthening exercises to target his affected muscles. We also used modalities like cold laser therapy to reduce inflammation and encourage healing in his knee. With each treatment, Bentley’s muscles began to relax, and his range of motion improved.
After just four treatments, Bentley has already shown significant progress. He is walking and standing much better, and he’s even falling down less frequently. One of the most exciting developments is that he has attempted to climb stairs again. This is a tremendous achievement for Bentley, considering how much difficulty he initially had with movement.
His recovery is still ongoing, but Bentley is making remarkable strides. He’s showing more strength and coordination with every session. His progress thrills his owners, and we are excited to see him continue improving.
Go Bentley! Keep up the great work! You’re proving that with the right rehabilitation, even the toughest challenges can be overcome! Keep moving forward!
