Trey encountered dog FCE, and we are proud to welcome Trey to Canine Physical Therapy! Trey experienced a traumatic event when he was electrocuted while urinating on a light pole. During the incident, it is suspected that he twisted his spine, resulting in an FCE (Fibrocartilaginous Embolism) along with electrical burns on his chest and right hind leg. His left hind leg has become very weak and atrophic, making it difficult for him to walk long distances or climb stairs.
To help Trey recover, we started with a combination of therapies. First, I’ve been using cold laser therapy to reduce inflammation and promote healing. Spinal mobilizations help improve his range of motion and relieve pressure on the injured areas. Additionally, I’ve been applying dry needling to his left hip, leg, and spine to release muscle tightness and stimulate healing. We’ve also begun hind limb strengthening exercises to rebuild the strength and stability in his left leg.
After just one treatment, Trey’s owner reported noticeable improvements. He is walking better and, most importantly, is no longer dragging or picking up his left leg and feels much better from his dog FCE. This progress is very encouraging, and we’re excited to continue with his recovery.
Trey is making great strides, and his determination is impressive. He has a long road ahead, but we are confident that with continued therapy, he will regain more strength and mobility. Our focus is on rebuilding his leg strength, improving his coordination, and supporting his spine recovery.
We’ll keep working on strengthening his hind limbs and ensuring that he regains full mobility. Go Trey! With each session, you’re getting stronger and more confident. Keep up the great work! We are here to support you every step of the way.
